Ignition Interlock South Carolina Laws

For first and repeat DUI offenders, the South Carolina courts may require you to install an Ignition Interlock Device (IID) in your vehicle if you…

  • Had a BAC level of .15 or higher.
  • Refused a breath test or were unconscious at the time of the test.
  • Are guilty of second or subsequent DUI traffic offenses.

*All South Carolina IID’s have a camera installed per regulatory standards to take your picture while you perform a breath test.
*You will be responsible for all costs and installation services for the IID, and bring your vehicle in for regular monitoring and service. You may be required to attend and complete an Alcohol and Drug Safety Action Program (ADSAP), as well as doing community service.
