What Does “Too Hot” Mean for My SMART Mobile™?
If you’re receiving the “Too Hot” error message, it means that the internal components of your SMART Mobile™ are overheating and will need to cool off.
If you’ve been using Smart Start’s SMART Mobile™ to fulfill your alcohol monitoring restriction, you already know how convenient our portable, lightweight device can be. With its discreet black carrying case and small size, the SMART Mobile™ is great on the go. However, if your SMART Mobile™ screen has given you the “Too Hot” error message, you may feel like the convenience of your portable alcohol-monitoring unit is in question.
Fortunately, the “Too Hot” error is easy to correct and easier to avoid, so your tests won’t be delayed for long. There are a number of ways you can help your device cool down!
- If your unit is plugged into a wall outlet or USB port, unplug the device.
- If you have left your SMART Mobile™ in a hot car, be sure to bring it inside and let it acclimate to cooler weather. It’s always a good idea to bring your device with you so you don’t have to worry about the effects of the elements!
If your SMART Mobile™ continues to give you a “Too Hot” error, you can reset the device by holding the end of a paperclip in the small reset hole on the back of the unit for 60 seconds. The screen will flash off and then on if your reset has been successful. If your device continues to read “Too Hot,” you will need to take it to your nearest Smart Start service center as soon as possible.
With these simple steps, the advanced technology that comprises your SMART Mobile™ will be providing you with the convenience to which you’re accustomed in no time!
