What Happens If My Interlock Reads a VIOLATION During a Car Mechanic Appointment?
It’s about time for your vehicle to visit the auto service shop for a car mechanic appointment, but you have an Ignition Interlock. Our devices are not meant to be burdensome, so there’s no need to stress if your Interlock reads a violation result during your vehicle’s service appointment.
Smart Start’s Customer Care Center is always ready to assist you during your program. When you call our team at (800) 831-3299, ask before your service appointment which steps you need to take to avoid a violation result.
What’s the Process?
You will be advised to visit our website and go to the Repair Bypass Instructions page, then follow your state’s instructions for a licensed mechanic to bypass your device. Your dealership can also use this process to bypass your Ignition Interlock.
This bypass procedure allows the mechanic to continue their service on your vehicle without causing violations on your device. Read here for more information about the auto repair bypass code your mechanic or dealership can use.
What If a VIOLATION Already Occurred at My Appointment?
If you already had your vehicle serviced, don’t worry. We will still be able to help you. You may be advised to fill out an Incident Report online. Make sure you have your receipt from your mechanic! Please allow at least five business days for a response from our team.
