Gilroy DUI Checkpoint

Gilroy Police Department will be holding a DUI and License checkpoint this weekend. The checkpoint will take place from Saturday, February 28 at 9 PM until Sunday, March 1 at 3 AM. The exact location of the checkpoint is not currently known. If we are alerted of the location we will update you! During this checkpoint officers will be checking for signs of alcohol and drug impairment, as well as proper and adequate licensing. Officers hope to only delay drivers for a moment, and not to hold people up for any length of time.

DUI checkpoints are beneficial for road safety as they help to remove inebriated drivers. The reason for posting DUI checkpoints ahead up time is in hopes that drivers will avoid drinking and driving, either by not drinking or by finding an alternative, safe ride home. These checkpoints also help keep roadways safe by removing unsafe drivers from the road. If you will be traveling in Gilroy this weekend, make sure you are safe and do not drink and drive.
