1. Have a Bottle of Water Handy

Just remember to swish water before each test! Swishing water is something we recommend doing before any test regardless of what you ate or drank before-hand. Water will help make foods you recently consumed dissipate faster, so your Interlock Device does not detect it while it is measuring your breath alcohol concentration level (BrAC). You should also wait between five and 10 minutes to take a test after eating or drinking anything but water.

2. Don’t Overthink It

Your Ignition Interlock will work alongside your every-day routine once you get comfortable with the tests. They only take seconds and the program will be flawlessly easy, especially if your Ignition Interlock vendor is Smart Start! Remember that your device will detect any consumed alcohol and if there is food consumed with a flavor like peppermint, just keep a bottle of water in your vehicle.
