If you’ve been charged with Driving Under the Influence (DUI) in Nevada and must install an Ignition Interlock Device (IID) or car breathalyzer, you’re likely curious about the cost. According to the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) website, if your license is revoked based on a DUI or failure to submit to testing, you may reinstate your driving privilege before the end of the revocation period by installing an Ignition Interlock Device on any vehicle you operate. A court may also order you to install an Interlock as part of sentencing.
Those suspected of a DUI may have their driving privileges reinstated following an arrest by installing an Ignition Interlock Device on any vehicle they operate. The Nevada DMV will issue a driver’s license with Restriction Y after you present proof of the installation and meet any other reinstatement requirements such as fees, testing and SR-22 insurance. You may be responsible for the cost of renting or leasing their device, but Nevada does offer financial assistance if you qualify.
