To get your license reinstated after a DUI in Colorado, you’ll need to follow the steps of the DUI administrative process, as described by the Colorado Department of Motor Vehicles, which operates separately from the DUI court process. You might have to complete some or all of the following court-mandated conditions before applying for a reinstated license:
- Serve a period of license revocation
- Install an Ignition Interlock Device on any vehicle(s) you drive
- Pay fees determined by the state
- Complete required community service
- Obtain an SR-22 insurance certificate
- Complete an approved alcohol and drug education course
- Attending a Victim Impact Panel
Depending on your blood alcohol content (BAC) when arrested, as well as whether it was your first DUI, you may be able to have your license reinstated if you install an Ignition Interlock Device (IID) in your vehicle. For those with no previous DUIs, you may even be eligible for early removal of the interlock in CO if you demonstrate strict compliance with the program requirements.
