San Diego DUI Checkpoints

During this holiday weekend there will be an increase in police presence in the San Diego area as they try to remove drunk drivers from the road. These increased patrols will begin this evening, Friday July 3rd, and continue through Sunday, July 5th. Deputies will also hold DUI checkpoints in Santee and Encinitas tonight. The time and exact location of these checkpoints is not currently known.

Last year officers in San Diego arrested 19 people, and that number was down significantly form 2013 when over 40 people were arrested for drinking and driving. Sheriff Bill Gore wants everyone to know that if you are drinking and driving and you get caught you will go to jail.

If you are planning on drinking this weekend, start the weekend off right by planning ahead. You can designate a driver before you go out to make sure someone is able to get you home safe. If that does not work you can also utilize a driving service by either calling a cab or use Uber or Lyft.
