FRESNO DUI CHECKPOINT

Fresno police department arrested nine individuals for suspicion of drunk driving on June 21^st and June 22^nd. They also impounded 32 vehicles because the drivers did not have a license present, or they were on the nine individuals that were arrested for drunk driving. The DUI saturation patrol was located in the southeast policing district. One drunk driving suspect who was arrested is a repeat DUI offender.

This DUI saturation patrol had 11 extra duty officers and was funded by a grant from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. In 2010, Fresno was granted $132,171 for DUI checkpoints and saturation patrols in an effort to keep roadways safe. The funds are used for checkpoints, surveillance and apprehension, and targeting those who fail to appear at DUI related court dates.
