SERIES: What Does ‘Don’t Inhale’ on My Ignition Interlock Mean?
Did you perform a test on your Ignition Interlock and receive a DON’T INHALE message on its screen? There’s no need to worry, because adjusting your test pattern is very easy.
What Does DON’T INHALE on the Ignition Interlock Mean?
If you inhale while your mouth is on the mouthpiece right before a test, you’ll receive a DON’T INHALE message. DON’T INHALE will also show on your screen if you’re sucking into the Device instead of exhaling.
DON’T INHALE is an abort message from your Ignition Interlock. Aborts do not mean fails. They are meant to let you know that your test was not a sufficient reading for the Device.
How Do I Fix My Testing Pattern?
Swish your mouth with water before attempting your next test. It’s also best to take a couple of deep breaths.
Before you perform your test, take a deep breath through your nose and away from the mouthpiece. Then exhale into the mouthpiece.
If you keep receiving the DON’T INHALE message, or if you have any other questions, please call our Customer Care team at 800-831-3299. We will be able to assist you so you can get back on the road again.
